About the position

The Counter Sales Representative at Kendall Electric plays a crucial role in promoting and developing business by providing exceptional service to customers both in-person and over the phone. This position is integral to the sales team, contributing to sales growth and profitability through effective communication and relationship-building with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Sell company products and services to customers visiting or calling into the branch.
  • Gather information about customer needs and provide technical assistance when required.
  • Quote prices, solicit orders, and suggest additional products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Promote add-on sales and vendor promotions.
  • Promote Counter Days to enhance sales opportunities.
  • Create positive relationships with customers and clarify their understanding of products and services.
  • Participate in relevant training to stay current and excel in the role.
  • Assist customers with loading products into their vehicles.
  • Replenish inventory in the counter area and pick counter orders.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts as directed.
  • Safely operate stand-up and/or sit-down forklifts and manual pallet jacks to lift and transport materials.
  • Maintain quality service by adhering to company policies and standards.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Entry-level work experience is acceptable.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computerized bar code scanners and printers.
  • Basic math and reasoning skills are necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Physical ability to lift/move/carry up to 50 lbs and be on feet for 8 hours a day.

Nice-to-haves

  • General working knowledge of pipe, valve, and fitting products.
  • Previous counter sales experience.
  • Forklift experience.
