About the position

The County Executive Director is responsible for directing and managing program and administrative operations for one or more counties under the US Farm Service Agency. This role involves implementing farm bill programs and policies established by the USDA, managing crop insurance operations, and providing essential farm loan program services. The position requires both office and field activities to achieve program objectives and includes managing subordinate staff.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage program and administrative operations for one or more counties.
  • Implement permanent and ad hoc farm bill programs and policies established by USDA.
  • Manage crop insurance operations under policies established by the Risk Management Agency (RMA).
  • Provide basic FSA farm loan program services.
  • Perform additional farm loan program assignments based on delegated authorities.
  • Conduct office and field activities to accomplish program objectives.
  • Manage and direct activities of subordinate staff.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age (or 17 for high school graduates).
  • Satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check required.
  • Direct Deposit is mandatory for federal payments.
  • Successful completion of one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period, if required.
  • Financial Disclosure Required (FSA-324).
  • Qualifications must meet requirements in Handbook 27-PM.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in agricultural operations or management.
  • Knowledge of governmental programs and customer service functions.
