About the position

The County Executive Director position is a leadership role within the Department of Agriculture, specifically for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Montana. The successful candidate will manage and direct program and administrative operations for Lewis & Clark County and Broadwater County, ensuring the effective implementation of USDA farm bill programs and crop insurance operations. This position offers the flexibility to choose between two primary duty locations: Helena or Townsend, Montana, and involves occasional travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage program and administrative operations for one or more counties.
• Carry out permanent and ad hoc farm bill programs and policies established by USDA.
• Manage crop insurance operations under policies established by the Risk Management Agency (RMA).
• Perform farm loan program assignments based on delegated authorities.
• Conduct office and field activities to accomplish program objectives.
• Manage and direct activities of subordinate staff.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age (or 17 for high school graduates).
• Successful completion of a one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period, if required.
• Financial disclosure required (FSA-324).
• Must have specialized experience in an FSA supervisory position, CEDT position, or Program Analyst in Charge position within the last 5 years.
