About the position
The Social Casework Intern position at Delaware County Department of Human Services Office of Children and Youth Services offers a unique opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience in the field of social services. This unpaid internship is designed for individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of children and families, providing essential support and services under the supervision of experienced caseworkers. Interns will engage in various case activities, receive on-the-job training, and contribute to the mission of ensuring the safety and well-being of children in the community.
Responsibilities
- Assist with case activities under the supervision of a Caseworker 2 or 3 or Casework Supervisor.
- Participate in assessment activities related to child welfare.
- Provide support in the performance and provision of services such as placement and counseling.
- Assist in specialized areas including home and money management, housing, employment, and child rearing.
- Engage in case management and counseling for abused and/or neglected children and their families.
Requirements
- Enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or related behavioral science.
- Completion of 75 college credits, including 15 credits in one of the listed majors.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
