Job Description: Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. * Provides legal counsel and representation to all County departments in civil litigation, administrative proceedings, etc. * Attends and presents at Boards and County Commissioners Court meetings and render legal advice. * Provides legal training to clients in County departments. * Renders routine legal advice daily to all officers, departments and agencies of the County. * Prepares cases for trial, interview witnesses, and examine law and evidence. * Represents the County in trial and appellate litigation and handles complex issues of law as necessary. * Drafts and reviews ordinances, resolutions, proposed legislation, contracts, deeds, leases, releases, franchises, and other legal documents. * Conducts legal research and prepares legal documents. * Ensures that information related to cases is disseminated appropriately and stored appropriately. * Advises and/or supervise paralegals and clerical/administrative personnel. * Conducts title searches, certify titles and handle closings. * Prepares formal legal opinions for the signature of the County Attorney. * Performs related work as required. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a Juris Doctorate. Physical Demands: * Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations. * Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): * None. Special Certifications and Licenses: * Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. * Requires license to practice law in the State of Texas. Additional Qualifications: Proposed Compensation: $82,750.00 - $82,750.00 Additional Recruiting Instruction: Bell County provides paid vacation, employee benefits including health, dental life and optional vision insurance along with participation in the Texas District and County Retirement program. Membership dues to TDCAA, the State and local bar dues, as well as costs associated with CLE are covered by the County Attorney's office.
