The work schedule includes varied days, primarily from 3 PM to 9:30 PM, with occasional weekend shifts. The wage range for this position is between $14.25 and $18.20 per hour. In addition to delivery responsibilities, the Courier is tasked with the general care and maintenance of the courier vehicles. This includes ensuring that the vehicles are kept clean and orderly, maintaining gas levels, and being aware of the vehicle's condition and maintenance needs. The Courier must also effectively use resources such as Soft Express software and a PDA device to organize and document activities throughout their shifts. Communication with management regarding any deviations from the assigned route is essential, as is the ability to handle packages with care to protect their contents and privacy. The role also emphasizes courtesy and communication, requiring the Courier to conduct themselves as a professional representative of Holland Hospital. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and engaging in timely communication with both internal and external customers. The Courier is encouraged to participate in feedback opportunities and accept additional responsibilities as assigned by Laboratory Leadership.
Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately deliver US and interdepartmental mail, laboratory specimens, diagnostic reports, radiology films, and supplies.
- Follow designated routes for pick-ups and deliveries, making adjustments as necessary for efficiency.
- Maintain the general care and maintenance of courier vehicles, ensuring they are clean and orderly.
- Lift and carry items weighing 40-50 lbs and push/pull items weighing 50-100 lbs as required.
- Use Soft Express software and a PDA device to organize and document courier activities during shifts.
- Communicate any deviations in assigned daily route tasks to the manager or designee.
- Adhere to safe delivery and transport procedures for dangerous goods and maintain sample temperature during transport.
- Conduct business in a courteous and professional manner, representing Holland Hospital effectively.
- Participate in feedback opportunities and accept additional responsibilities as assigned by Laboratory Leadership.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Michigan Driver's License with no restrictions and no more than one traffic violation in the last three years required.
- Familiarity with the Holland/Zeeland area preferred.
