About The Position

The Transportation Courier at University Clinical Health is responsible for the timely and accurate pickup and delivery of medical specimens and packages for the Pathology Lab. This role involves driving scheduled routes and handling ad-hoc pickups, ensuring compliance with safety and HIPAA regulations while providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid TN driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Must own a vehicle and have proper auto insurance.
• 1-2 years of Laboratory Courier experience preferred.
• Minimum high school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver medical specimens and packages for the Pathology Lab.
• Drive scheduled recurring routes and handle ad-hoc pickups/deliveries.
• Transport slides/cassettes between various medical facilities.
• Transport Covid collection kits and specimens from client locations.
• Open and sort incoming tissue specimens, ensuring accuracy of container to requisition.
• Prepare tissue specimens for gross examination.
• Accurately file and retrieve histology/cytology slides and blocks.
• Perform weekly disposal of tissue specimens.
• Assist with frozen section procedures as needed.
• Handle interdepartmental phone calls and calls from clients and physicians.
• Follow safety guidelines as indicated in the safety manual.
