About the position

The Course Editor at the Center for Academic Development & Teaching Excellence will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of instructional content delivered through Liberty University's Learning Management System (LMS). This position involves collaborating closely with Curriculum Development employees to review, edit, and format web-based instructional materials. The ideal candidate will possess strong copy editing skills and a keen attention to detail, ensuring that all course content meets the highest quality standards. The role requires extensive use of various computer technologies, including Microsoft Office, Respondus, SharePoint, ServiceNow, and Tableau, to facilitate the editing and formatting processes. Effective communication with faculty and staff is essential, as the Course Editor will need to discuss course content and provide feedback to ensure clarity and effectiveness in instructional delivery. In addition to editing responsibilities, the Course Editor will supervise the assessment of quality standards for Liberty University Online (LUO) courses, providing valuable insights to the CAD administration. This includes maintaining quality assurance documentation and conducting training sessions within the CAD to ensure that all team members are aligned with the established quality standards. The position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements, but it demands a high level of self-motivation and organization to manage tasks effectively from a distance.

Responsibilities

  • Review, edit, and format instructional content for web-based instruction within the Learning Management System.
  • Supervise the assessment of quality standards for LUO courses, providing insights for CAD administration.
  • Maintain quality assurance documentation and conduct training within CAD.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty and staff regarding course content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Education, or English preferred.
  • Strong command of written English skills, including mechanics, syntax, and spelling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to master new technologies quickly.
  • Experience with Canvas and other educational technologies preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems.
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with educational technologies such as Canvas.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes in educational settings.
