About the position
The Court Attorney position at Macomb County Probate Court involves conducting and presiding over hearings and legal proceedings, providing legal consultation to the court and staff, and performing legal research on relevant laws and proposed legislation. The role is essential for ensuring the court operates effectively and adheres to legal standards, while also representing the court in designated hearings and operational proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Conducts and presides over all types of proceedings and hearings as permitted by statute and court rule.
- Provides legal consultation to the court and to court staff.
- Performs legal research on laws and any proposed legislation affecting Probate Court.
- Designs, implements, and trains staff on legal procedures and processes.
- Represents the court at designated hearings and operational proceedings.
- Prepares documents using a personal computer and word processing programs.
- Assists the public by answering questions and issuing information as needed.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the practice of law.
- Licensed by the State Bar of Michigan as an attorney.
