About the position

The Court Executive 2B - Civil Division Manager is a leadership role within the New Jersey Judiciary, responsible for overseeing the management and administration of the Civil, Special Civil Part, and General Equity areas. This position involves case flow processing, case management, and the development of policies and procedures. The Civil Division Manager works closely with the Presiding Judge and supervises a team of managerial, professional, and support staff, ensuring alignment with the Judiciary's mission and core values. The role emphasizes quality service, strong leadership, and effective communication to inspire and motivate staff towards achieving organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer the Civil, Special Civil Part, and General Equity areas.
  • Oversee case flow processing and case management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Civil Division.
  • Supervise managerial, professional, and support staff.
  • Train, mentor, and coach staff, providing feedback and evaluation on performance.
  • Assess staff training needs and recommend personnel actions.
  • Lead division meetings and prepare statistical reports.
  • Partner with Vicinage managers to implement programs and procedures for customer service.
  • Explain Judiciary policies and procedures to court users and customers.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints from attorneys, litigants, or citizens.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of professional administrative and/or program management experience, including program development and implementation.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • A master's degree may substitute for one year of experience; a law degree may substitute for two years of experience.
