About the position

The Oregon Judicial Department (OJD) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Court Operations Associate to join the Lane County Circuit Court in Eugene, Oregon. This full-time position plays a crucial role in providing clerical support for the court, which serves the public, including individuals facing challenging life circumstances. The work performed in this role directly impacts community members who come to the court for resolution of their cases. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and managing all case types, performing data entry, and determining the appropriate next steps in multistep processes. Your duties will include receipting court fees, scheduling hearings and trials, preparing and distributing court dockets, accepting electronic filings, ensuring the proper issuing of court notices, reviewing reports related to case statuses, scanning documents into the case management system, and responding to records requests. You will also handle complex transactions involving warrants, attorney appointments, show-cause scheduling, license suspensions or recalls, recordation of judgments, and payment plans. Customer service is a key component of this position, as you will interact with court staff, attorneys, litigants, and the public to provide information about local procedures, case statuses, court calendars, and jury duty. Additionally, you will process juror summonses, deferrals, excusals, and payroll, check in jurors for jury duty, and provide juror orientation. Part of your responsibilities will also include interviewing defendants to determine their eligibility for court-appointed counsel and making recommendations to judges. The position requires flexibility, as assigned tasks may change to accommodate workload and organizational needs. Responsibilities

  • Check in jurors for jury duty and provide juror orientation.
  • Interview defendants to determine eligibility for court-appointed counsel and make recommendations to judges.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Bilingual skills, including American Sign Language, are preferred.
