About The Position

The Court Security Deputy is responsible for maintaining security at the Ada County Courthouse Campus (ACCC), ensuring the safety of judges, court employees, and the public. This role involves responding to calls for service, conducting investigations, and providing security during court hearings. The position requires collaboration with various law enforcement and court entities, and candidates must pass physical and written tests as part of the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must have Peace Officer Certification or Idaho Detention Officer Certification for lateral applicants.
  • Must have at least two years of commissioned experience for lateral transfer applicants.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and memorize large amounts of information related to policies and laws.
  • Strong writing skills in English, including grammar and punctuation.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and diffusing tense situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in law enforcement or security roles.
  • Knowledge of court procedures and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security of the Ada County Courthouse Campus (ACCC) and those on premises.
  • Preserve and enforce Idaho laws and departmental policies to maintain security.
  • Perform security and perimeter checks.
  • Monitor facilities' surveillance cameras.
  • Provide security for judges and staff in court facilities.
  • Respond to and investigate calls and complaints involving criminal or civil matters.
  • Manage public interactions and de-escalate confrontational situations.
  • Remove disruptive individuals and make arrests as necessary.
  • Serve warrants and take individuals into custody.
  • Keep records and prepare reports related to incidents and arrests.
  • Testify as a witness in court regarding arrests and citations.
  • Collaborate with contract security to ensure proper screening processes.
  • Work closely with court staff to ensure safe court operations.
