About the position

Walden Security is currently recruiting experienced Court Security Officers (CSOs) to provide armed security to courthouses under the USMS contract. The role involves various essential duties and responsibilities that ensure the safety and security of court facilities and personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entrance control by enforcing the District's entry and identification system, operating security screening equipment to detect weapons and prohibited items.
  • Conduct roving patrols of court facilities and grounds according to applicable post orders.
  • Stand guard at stationary posts, monitoring closed-circuit television, duress alarm systems, and other security equipment in courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms.
  • Provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals when directed.
  • Direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties as described in post orders and standard operating procedures.
  • Enforce federal law while performing assigned duties, including detaining unauthorized individuals attempting to access Government property or court proceedings.
  • Prepare reports and records regarding contract performance issues, including labor hours, accidents, fire, bomb threats, and unusual incidents.
  • Secure unattended courtrooms, inspect courtrooms prior to proceedings, and test security devices as part of court attendance duties.
  • Provide a security presence in the courtroom, enforcing federal law and judicial orders, and local court rules regarding prohibited items.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three (3) years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or military equivalent within the last seven (7) years, including general arrest authority.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, and to interpret rules and regulations.
  • Valid driver's license from state of residency with a safe driving record for the past five years.
  • Completion of certified law enforcement training academy with proof of certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
