About the position

The Court Business Process and Education (BPE) Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 20 supervisors and professional staff within the Court Services Division of the Minnesota Judicial Branch. This role involves providing leadership, direction, and guidance for the establishment and education of statewide business processes, as well as managing the implementation of projects, rules, statutes, and policies related to court operations. The manager will also oversee the Education Unit, Systems Unit, and efforts related to Digital Accessibility requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, assign, review and manage the activities of supervisory and professional staff of the BPE Unit.
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff, conduct regular check-in meetings, and oversee performance evaluations.
  • Serve as sponsor on various Judicial Branch projects and initiatives related to court operations.
  • Oversee the coordination of court application development requests and assess their impact on existing business processes.
  • Direct the development of standard statewide documentation necessary for court administration staff and judicial officers.
  • Maintain regular contact with other state and local governmental agencies and national court systems.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in political science, public affairs, criminal justice, sociology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in court administration, criminal justice, adult education, or a closely related area.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory and/or management experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience planning, developing, and implementing projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of a master's degree in public administration, public affairs, adult education or a related field; or a Juris Doctor.
  • 2 to 3 years of high-level experience in court administration, continuous improvement, and/or curriculum development.
  • National Center for State Courts Institute for Court Management certification as Court Manager, Court Executive and/or Court Fellow.
