The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger position at Smith's Food and Drug focuses on delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment. This role is essential in ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty by providing assistance during the checkout process and keeping the store organized and welcoming.
Responsibilities
- Bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring at least five items per bag while preventing damage to contents.
- Assist customers by removing merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
- Help customers load bags into their cars when requested.
- Perform basic shelf conditioning and inform customers of grocery specials.
- Return merchandise to store shelves and gather bascarts to designated areas.
- Clean spills and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas inside and outside the store.
- Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise as needed.
- Understand the store's layout to locate products and conduct price checks for cashiers.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or accidents to management.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products and services offered in the store.
- Report safety risks, illegal activities, and adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines.
