About the position
The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger position at Fred Meyer is focused on delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment. This role is essential in ensuring customers have a positive experience, encouraging them to return. The position involves bagging groceries, assisting customers, and performing various store maintenance tasks, all while embodying the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring at least five items per bag without damage.
- Assist customers in removing merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
- Help customers load bags into their cars.
- Perform basic shelf conditioning and inform customers of grocery specials.
- Return merchandise to store shelves and gather bascarts to return them to designated areas.
- Clean spills and pick up trash inside the store and parking lot.
- Clean all areas inside and outside of the store.
- Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
- Understand the store's layout to locate products and conduct price checks for cashiers.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions.
- Report safety risks, illegal activities, and adhere to all laws and company guidelines.
