About the position

The Courtesy Clerk at Boise Consumer Cooperative Inc plays a vital role in enhancing customer experience by providing support at the Front End. This position involves greeting customers, assisting cashiers, and ensuring a clean and welcoming environment. The Courtesy Clerk contributes to the cooperative's mission of promoting honest food and a healthier community through exceptional service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Greets and acknowledges customers in the Front-End's area of responsibility.
• Helps the cashier bag the customers' groceries and engages with the customer when doing so.
• Offers to assist customers with taking their purchase to their vehicle, if requested or required.
• Helps monitor the self-checkout registers and assists when needed.
• Answers store phone and directs the incoming phone calls.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the customer eating areas and restrooms.
• Places product returns and go backs to their proper location in the store if requested.
• Verifies pricing for the cashiers when needed.
• Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions properly.
• Attends all Front-End department meetings and maintains respectful communication with co-workers.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Department Managers, Leads or Store Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 0-3 years retail experience preferred (preferably in a grocery or other customer service sector).
• Ability to build relationships, learn quickly, and maintain strong interpersonal skills.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Handle basic issues and problems and refer more complex issues to high-level staff.
• Exhibit a strong work ethic and encourage teamwork.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
