This position involves assisting customers with their purchases, maintaining cleanliness in the store, and supporting various departments as needed. The Courtesy Clerk is expected to engage with customers warmly and efficiently, embodying the company's commitment to a helpful and friendly environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in the designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Makes note of and passes along customer suggestions or requests to enhance the shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Packages purchases and assists customers in transporting them to their mode of transportation.
• Cleans registers, restrooms, break room, backroom, sweeps and mops the floor, and tends to supply needs.
• Helps train new courtesy clerks and checks prices on products.
• Pulls product forward on shelf, brings carts in from parking lot, and cleans can redemption area.
• Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, and understands shelf tags and merchandise locations.
• Maintains supplies on front-end, including paper/plastic sacks and receipt paper.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Requirements

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to deal with a few concrete variables.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copying figures, counting and recording.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
