About the position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CPA/Controller to oversee our financial operations. The CPA/Controller will be responsible for managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, and overseeing accounting operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles. The CPA/Controller will play a critical role in the financial health of the organization, ensuring that all financial practices are in line with statutory laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management and will be able to provide strategic direction to the finance team. In this position, you will oversee all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), General Ledger (GL), Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition. You will coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, reporting variances as necessary. Additionally, you will prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting. Researching technical accounting issues for compliance will also be a key responsibility, along with supporting month-end and year-end close processes. Quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting will be paramount, as will managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. You will also be tasked with developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Additional controller duties may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic and multifaceted role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a Controller.
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Advanced degree in accounting.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
