About the position

We are seeking a full-time Accountant/Tax Preparer to join our established CPA firm in Lenexa, KS. The firm specializes in small business accounting, consulting, and individual and business tax preparation, thriving on referrals due to our personalized client attention. This role is ideal for someone passionate about accounting and looking to work in a close-knit, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements for approximately 20 small businesses.
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations using QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) and similar accounting programs.
• Handle data entry into QuickBooks and similar accounting programs, making adjusting journal entries as needed.
• Process payroll and prepare quarterly/annual payroll tax filings.
• Prepare individual tax returns (Form 1040).
• Prepare business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, and 1065).
• Schedule appointments and greet clients during tax season.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification with the ability to file tax returns.
• Experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in individual and business tax preparation.
• Friendly, energetic, and reliable demeanor.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
