About the position

We are working with a top 25 public accounting firm that is seeking a Tax Partner for their New York City office. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in taxation, particularly with closely-held businesses, S-Corporations, Partnerships, LLCs, and high net worth individuals. The successful candidate will have a broad and deep understanding of taxation and will be responsible for reviewing and signing complex federal and state income tax returns. The role requires exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic to ensure high-quality client service. The Tax Partner will also be expected to demonstrate leadership within the firm and contribute to the overall growth and success of the tax practice.

Responsibilities

• Review and sign complex federal and state income tax returns.
• Provide high-quality client service and maintain strong client relationships.
• Demonstrate a broad understanding of taxation, particularly for closely-held businesses.
• Lead and mentor junior staff within the tax department.
• Participate in business development activities to grow the firm's tax practice.

Requirements

• Valid CPA license is required.
• Master's degree in Tax or LLM Tax is ideal.
• 10+ years of public accounting experience, preferably as a partner at a Top 25 accounting firm.
• Deep experience in taxation with a focus on S-Corporations, Partnerships, LLCs, and high net worth individuals.
• Understanding of financial statements and their implications for tax planning.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in representing clients at IRS and state tax audits, appeals, and dispute resolution.
• Litigation support experience, including assisting law firms on civil and criminal tax cases.
• Experience in writing federal and state tax protests.
