About the position

doola is seeking a customer-oriented and dedicated professional to be the first on-site CPA on our team. One of the most important parts of operating a successful business in the US is taxes, and at the same time, it can be very confusing both for American and foreign entrepreneurs. As our customer base grows quickly, it's time for us to provide in-house tax services which will keep our customers' businesses compliant and in a good state. This is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact and help our customers manage their US business, and eventually, build a team of CPAs at doola. In this role, you will be working as a CPA in a client-facing capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of clients, providing appropriate tax solutions for small businesses and entrepreneurs. You will conduct meetings with clients to discuss their current practices and financial needs, reviewing financial statements and tax return preparation, filing forms, general ledger, and financial statement reviews checking for errors, and performing attestation audits to ensure compliance with required organization. Additionally, you will develop the process for providing tax advice and tax filings for our customers. You will establish policies and procedures based on industry standards, developments, and regulations and adapt them as changes arise to maintain and innovate best-in-class tax practices. Collaboration with other team members as a subject matter expert will be essential to help with the creation of educational content for our customers. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our clients receive the best possible tax advice and services, contributing to their success and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of clients providing appropriate tax solutions for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
  • Conduct meetings with clients to discuss their current practices and financial needs.
  • Review financial statements and tax return preparation, filing forms, general ledger, and financial statement reviews checking for errors.
  • Perform attestation audits to ensure compliance with required organization.
  • Develop the process for providing tax advice and tax filings for our customers.
  • Establish policies and procedures based on industry standards, developments, and regulations, adapting them as changes arise.
  • Collaborate with other team members as a subject matter expert to help with the creation of educational content for our customers.

Requirements

  • CPA license required.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing Federal and State income tax returns for businesses.
  • Experience preparing quarterly estimates and handling tax notices and disputes.
  • Familiarity with tax filings such as form 1120/5472 for Non-US residents and form 1065 for partnerships.
  • Comfortable in a startup environment and able to navigate ambiguity with minimal direction.
  • Strong critical thinking, reasoning, and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Effective English communication skills, both written and oral.
