About the position
The CPA Tax Associate will play a crucial role in a rapidly growing VC Start-Up Law Firm in New York City. This hybrid position involves overseeing accounting, payroll, taxes, and financial reporting for the firm and its clients. The ideal candidate will be a leader who enjoys working with teams and will report directly to the CEO, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and supporting business plans.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting staff to ensure compliance with legal requirements in all markets.
- Manage the annual operating, capital, and program budgets.
- Support the achievement of business plans.
- Oversee capital expenditure and initiatives.
- Ensure robust financial forecasting and monitor updates for the CEO.
- Regulate cash flow in alignment with current company operations.
- Manage payroll processing and expense report processes.
- Ensure accounting project timelines are met and adhere to brand standards.
- Evaluate current accounting systems and implement new systems as necessary.
- Lead the accounting team positively to help the company progress.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience as an Accountant or CPA.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or business administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AI, or LLM.

- Experience in the law field is a plus, but not required.
