About the position

The Morrison Firm is seeking a highly skilled CPA / Tax Preparer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation of federal and state tax filings, including individual, partnership, trust, estate, C-Corp, S-Corp, and Exempt Organization returns. You will also prepare various accounting reports and stay updated on ongoing trends and changes to tax legislation. Your responsibilities will include performing research to properly assess the treatment of tax strategies and client transactions, as well as assisting with litigation support and business valuation projects. Frequent interaction with clients, taxing agencies, and other professionals will be a key aspect of your role. The ideal candidate will actively observe circumstances in clients' lives that may suggest a need for supplementary services. You should be able to operate autonomously while maintaining a collaborative perspective, manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment, and be proficient in modern office technology, including Office 365. A service-oriented attitude, strong verbal and written communication skills, meticulous organization, and a high level of integrity are essential traits for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of federal and state tax filings (individual, partnership, trust, estate, C-Corp, S-Corp, Exempt Org.)
  • Preparation of various accounting reports
  • Keeping versed with ongoing trends and changes to tax legislation
  • Perform research to properly assess the treatment of tax strategies and client transactions
  • Assistance with litigation support and business valuation projects
  • Frequent interaction with clients, taxing agencies, and other professionals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
  • CPA license eligible; currently licensed preferred
  • 3 years of tax preparation experience
  • 3 years of QuickBooks experience
  • 3 years of public accounting experience
  • 3 years of Ultra-Tax experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in modern office technology (Office 365, etc.)
  • Meticulous and organized with a service-oriented attitude

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public accounting assisting the development of expanding mid-sized firms
  • Ultra-Tax software experience a plus
  • Pro Advisor Certifications in QuickBooks a plus
