About the position

We are a midsize public accounting firm located in Manhattan Beach, CA, experiencing substantial growth and seeking a full-time Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling tax resolution, tax preparation, and some bookkeeping tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring our clients receive accurate and timely tax services while also providing insights into their financial health. As a CPA in our firm, you will engage in various responsibilities including the preparation of individual and corporate tax returns such as 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065. You will review clients' financial records, making necessary adjustment entries to finalize year-end accounts. Additionally, you will be involved in tax resolution processes, including handling levies, liens, offers in compromise (OIC), and the Fresh Start program. Representing clients through the Power of Attorney (POA) process is also a key aspect of this role. Your expertise will be essential in spotting errors and suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce spending for our clients. You will assist with tax audits and returns, and play a significant role in planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of staff members. Supporting the month-end and year-end close processes will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all financial activities are completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Tax Preparation for 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, etc.
  • Review clients' books and make adjustment entries to finalize year-end accounts.
  • Handle Tax Resolution including levy, lien, OIC, and Fresh Start processes.
  • Represent clients via the Power of Attorney (POA) process.
  • Perform bookkeeping for assigned monthly clients.
  • Identify errors and suggest improvements for efficiency and spending.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns preparation.
  • Plan, assign, and review staff's work.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a public accounting firm.
  • CPA License is required.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, such as QuickBooks.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in tax resolution processes.
  • Familiarity with various tax forms and regulations.
