About the position

This is a full-time, direct placement role at Building Envelope Consultants, Ltd. (BEC), a team of architects, engineers, and building science professionals specializing in the design, inspection, and testing of all elements of the "Building Envelope". This includes roofs, walls, foundations, and their component parts. BEC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to manage the financial operations of the company. The CPA will play a critical role in overseeing the company's financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insights to support business decisions. In this position, you will be responsible for managing various accounting tasks, preparing financial reports, handling tax filings, and collaborating with other departments to drive the company's financial success. You will oversee and manage the company's accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger. Additionally, you will prepare, examine, and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial reporting standards. You will also develop and maintain budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow reports, handle tax preparation and filing, including quarterly and annual tax returns, and conduct regular audits and reconciliations to maintain financial integrity. Monitoring project costing for design, inspection, and testing projects will be essential to ensure accurate tracking of project expenses and profitability. You will work closely with project managers to review budgets, track financial performance, and manage costs, while also managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners. Providing financial insights to senior management for decision-making and strategic planning will be a key aspect of your role, along with staying up to date with changes in tax laws and financial regulations relevant to the associated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.

Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Accounting experience, preferably in the construction or A/E industry.
  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Architecture and engineering companies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with design contracts.
