About the position

As an RTL Engineer at Apple, you will play a crucial role in the development of CPU architecture and microarchitecture for low power mobile devices. This position involves a range of responsibilities from high-level architectural exploration to detailed specification and validation of RTL designs, ensuring they meet performance, power, and area goals. You will collaborate with a multifunctional engineering team to implement and validate designs, contributing to groundbreaking Apple products.

Responsibilities

  • Microarchitecture development and specification from early high-level architectural exploration through micro architectural research to detailed specification.
  • Ownership of RTL features, including development, assessment, and refinement to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
  • Support test bench development and simulation for functional and performance verification.
  • Explore high performance strategies and validate that the RTL design meets targeted performance.
  • Collaborate with a multifunctional engineering team to implement and validate physical design aspects such as timing, area, reliability, testability, and power.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree in a relevant field and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor architecture, including instruction fetch and decode, branch prediction, instruction scheduling, register renaming, out-of-order execution, integer and floating point execution, load/store execution, cache and memory subsystems.
  • Proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL, with experience in simulators and waveform debugging tools.
  • Understanding of logic design principles along with timing and power implications.
  • Familiarity with low power and high performance microarchitecture techniques.
  • Experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python.
