About the position

The CPW Program Assistant II for Outdoor Recreation and Lands is responsible for providing executive-level support and administrative assistance to the Assistant Director of the Outdoor Recreation Branch within Colorado Parks and Wildlife. This role involves managing budgets, coordinating meetings, and ensuring compliance with administrative processes to enhance the delivery of recreational programs and services across Colorado. The position plays a crucial role in supporting various programs, managing correspondence, and facilitating effective communication within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive support for the Assistant Director of Outdoor Recreation and Lands.
  • Manage the branch calendar for meetings, events, training, and special activities.
  • Assist with budget analysis, planning, scheduling, spending, and reporting.
  • Coordinate the hiring process for permanent staff and manage hiring paperwork.
  • Provide administrative support for various programs including the Outdoor Equity Grant Program and State Trust Lands.
  • Track correspondence, approvals, and record keeping for RLAD processes.
  • Oversee logistics and business details for conferences and meetings.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with budget, accounting, and procurement information.
  • Assist with travel logistics for the Assistant Director and other staff.
  • Maintain office equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Five years of relevant experience in program or office administration/support.
  • A combination of a relevant degree and experience equating to five years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current or former State experience relevant to this position.
  • Demonstrated experience working with government agencies on administrative and/or grant programs.
  • Wildlife, State parks or other outdoor recreation experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with the state's financial procedures and systems.
