About the position

The Crane Operator Shorebase position involves operating cranes in various outdoor conditions, ensuring safety and efficiency in lifting and moving heavy materials at construction sites and industrial facilities. The role requires adherence to safety procedures, effective communication with team members, and the ability to work under time-sensitive and sometimes hazardous conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to EPS safe operations procedures.
  • Responsible for all rigging procedures according to EPS Rigging Manual.
  • Ensure that all clients' expectations are met.
  • Operate crane under general supervision.
  • Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed and direction according to instructions.
  • Inspect crane for safety issues daily and determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
  • Complete job tickets, service quality summaries, and necessary paperwork.
  • Lift, position, and place machinery or large objects at construction sites.
  • Place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads.
  • Rotate crane on chassis to raise and lower crane boom and load-line.
  • Bolt boom sections together to extend or modify boom for high lifting.
  • Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
  • Operate crane according to signals from helper.
  • Start and stop crane engine.
  • Conduct Pre-Job Safety Meetings and JSA's prior to conducting any job.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrate safe operation of equipment.
  • Possess a valid NCCER Crane Certification, TWIC card, and other necessary certifications.
  • Physical strength and ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Additional training may be required to meet company or customer standards.
