About the position
The Crane Operator at WIN Waste Innovations is responsible for operating a refuse crane to ensure proper refuse flow to operating boilers and manage pit operations. This role involves monitoring and maintaining the crane, ensuring efficient refuse mixing for optimal combustion, and maintaining cleanliness in the crane control room and surrounding areas. The operator must communicate effectively and troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Operate refuse crane to maintain proper refuse flow to operating boilers.
- Monitor, lubricate, inspect, and clean the refuse crane.
- Prevent excessive grapple swings and reduce wear on electrical and mechanical parts.
- Thoroughly mix refuse before feeding to boilers to ensure proper combustion.
- Maintain cleanliness in the crane control room and surrounding areas.
- Communicate clearly using intercom systems, two-way radios, or face-to-face interactions.
- Anticipate and identify potential problems and take appropriate action.
- Troubleshoot equipment and assist in diagnosing problem areas.
Requirements
- Experience operating cranes, preferably in a waste management or industrial setting.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment and under adverse conditions.
Nice-to-haves
