About the position

The Creative Content Specialist/Videographer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and engagement of the university's athletic programs through creative video content. This position is responsible for brainstorming, recording, and editing videos that cater to the overall creative video needs of the Athletic Department, particularly for assigned Olympic sports teams. The specialist will lead the creation and coordination of engaging video content for various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, aimed at maximizing audience engagement and advancing the university's brand. In addition to producing features and covering events, the Creative Content Specialist will collaborate closely with the communications, marketing, and development teams to ensure that the content aligns with the department's strategic goals. This role requires a strong understanding of social media dynamics and the ability to create original, high-quality content that resonates with the target audience. The position reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director of Creative Services and Athletic Communications, making it integral to the department's overall creative efforts. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating outstanding organizational skills and a keen design sense. They will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. The role may also involve occasional evening and weekend work, depending on the sports schedule, and requires the ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm, record, and edit video content for the Athletic Department.
  • Lead the creation and coordination of creative video content for social media platforms.
  • Cover events and produce features to maximize audience engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Substantial experience in social media communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts on various platforms.
  • Ability to create and publish original, high-quality content.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with a strong design sense and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-3 years of experience in college athletics content creation at the Division I level.
  • Experience in video content acquisition and editing, still and motion graphics creation, and social media distribution expertise.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, ACC, and institutional rules related to this position.
