About the position

The Des Plaines Park District is seeking a Creative Corners Preschool Director for the Spanish Immersion Program(s). This role involves the implementation of Spanish Immersion and Spanish Immersion Enrichment Programs for children aged 3-6 years. The position requires a commitment of 29.50 hours per week during the school year (September-May) and 20.5 hours per week during the summer program (End of May-Middle of August). The director will be responsible for planning, supervision, and ensuring the safety of preschool activities that meet the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of the children. The role also includes maintaining communication with parents and working collaboratively with staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and ensure the safety of preschool programs and activities.
  • Conduct daily programs in Spanish and communicate fluently in both English and Spanish.
  • Prepare the classroom and clean up after activities.
  • Arrive early and stay after class for preparation and cleaning.
  • Supervise and direct Spanish Immersion Preschool Teacher Assistant(s).
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Develop course curriculum and lesson plans based on the curriculum outline.
  • Keep up to date on preschool issues and trends.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding participant behavior and advancement.
  • Administer First Aid when required and complete documentation.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's degree with six Early Childhood credit hours.
  • Minimum of one year in a teaching role, as either an employee or student teacher.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certified (classes available upon hire).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with classroom management techniques.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.
  • Familiarity with classroom technology or willingness to receive training.
