About the position

The Creative Corners Preschool Director of Spanish Immersion Program(s) at Des Plaines Park District is responsible for implementing and overseeing Spanish Immersion and Enrichment Programs for children aged 3-6. This part-time role involves planning and supervising preschool activities, ensuring the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of the children are met, and maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment. The position requires fluency in both English and Spanish, as the program is conducted primarily in Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and ensure the safety of preschool programs and activities.
• Conduct daily programs in Spanish and communicate effectively with bilingual parents and children.
• Prepare the classroom and clean up after activities, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
• Supervise and communicate with Spanish Immersion Preschool Teacher Assistant(s).
• Develop course curriculum and lesson plans based on the curriculum outline, submitting them monthly to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Maintain open communication with parents regarding participant behavior and advancement.
• Administer First Aid when required and complete appropriate documentation.
• Attend related training and meetings as requested.

Requirements

• Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to speak and read fluently.
• Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a teaching role, either as an employee or student teacher.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certified, with classes available through the Park District upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with classroom management techniques and appropriate guidance and discipline techniques.
• Familiarity with classroom technology or willingness to receive training to incorporate SMART Technology in the classroom.
