About the position

The Creative Director - Design & Construction at Davidson Hospitality Group will play a pivotal role in shaping the brand experience across all guest touchpoints. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the Design & Construction (D&C) and operational teams to ensure brand integrity and consistency. The Creative Director will leverage innovation and experimentation to create emotional connections between guests and the brand, while also focusing on business development by promoting services to ownership groups. In this role, the Creative Director will assess both existing and new hotel development opportunities, collaborating with Owners, Investors, and Developers to prepare a compelling design vision that enhances guest experiences. This includes developing pitch decks that reflect design sensibility and operational integrity, as well as supporting the team during presentations by addressing design narrative questions. The Creative Director will also work with Project Directors throughout the RFP process, ensuring alignment with the planned design narrative and vision during all phases of development and execution. The position involves engaging with design and architecture agencies to maintain alignment with the vision narrative and guidelines, providing recommendations through sketches and space plans, and coordinating on-site reviews during construction to ensure design goals are met. The Creative Director will utilize strong collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills to help internal teams achieve industry-leading design concepts, drawing on consumer research and market trends to inform strategies. Additionally, the role includes working with the marketing team on initiatives to promote the brand through various channels, including hospitality and design journals, websites, and social media. Business development is a key aspect of this role, requiring the Creative Director to develop and maintain relationships with ownership groups to secure funding for new design projects. This includes creating and delivering presentations that showcase the value of the design and construction services offered by Davidson Hospitality Group. The Creative Director will also collaborate with the BD team to strategize for business growth and service expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Owners, Investors, and Developers to assess hotel development opportunities and prepare design visions.
  • Assist in developing pitch decks that reflect design sensibility and operational integrity.
  • Support the team during presentations by addressing design narrative questions.
  • Work with Project Directors on the RFP process and coordinate with design consultants during all phases of development.
  • Engage with design and architecture agencies to maintain alignment with the vision narrative.
  • Provide recommendations through sketches and testing space plans, collaborating with consultants.
  • Coordinate on-site reviews during construction to ensure alignment with design goals.
  • Leverage collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills to aid internal teams in achieving design concepts.
  • Conduct ongoing research and first-hand experiences of comparable hospitality venues.
  • Work with the marketing team on promotional initiatives for the brand.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with ownership groups to secure funding for new design projects.
  • Create and deliver presentations to ownership groups showcasing design and construction services.
  • Collaborate with the BD team to develop strategies for business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the lodging industry, particularly with boutique or lifestyle hotels.
  • Knowledge of brand requirements and hospitality design, lodging, and real estate development.
  • Proven business development skills.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
