About the position

The Creative Director, Global Brand Management at Pearson will lead the rollout of a new brand identity, overseeing the development and implementation of brand assets and guidelines. This role requires collaboration with various teams and agencies to ensure the new identity resonates across different business divisions and is effectively communicated both internally and externally. The position involves managing a team of designers and potentially freelance resources, while also driving strategic initiatives to enhance brand equity.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the new core brand identity system in partnership with the Brand Manager and agency team.
  • Identify asset library needs and build a plan and budget to complete them.
  • Lead the internal team to build out assets such as pictograms and iconography.
  • Build out a photography library and lead custom shoots as needed.
  • Identify illustrator resources and build out an illustration library.
  • Provide recommendations for a lead brand font that works across business needs.
  • Complete brand guidelines for the new system in partnership with the Brand Manager and Agency.
  • Ensure all aspects of the new system are properly vetted and protected through technical reviews.
  • Consult with UX/UI team to ensure proper translation into UX design system.
  • Work with legal/procurement to contract new assets for use.
  • Build and execute a training program for the new identity system for marketing employees and external agency teams.
  • Monitor progress of the new identity rollout and report to senior leadership.
  • Champion the new direction for the Pearson brand to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop processes for design reviews and consult on application of the new ID system across divisions.
  • Engage proactively with divisions on key strategic initiatives regarding branding.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in brand/marketing creative design and leadership.
  • Experience in building, executing, and managing a new brand identity system.
  • Experience in similar roles within a technology organization or brand/marketing agencies.
  • Highly creative with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Proven ability to develop brand design systems and communicate recommendations effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing agency relationships.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled toolkit options for design execution.
