About the position

The Creative Director, Global Brand Management will lead the rollout of Pearson's new brand identity, working closely with agency partners and internal teams to ensure a cohesive and effective brand presence. This role involves overseeing the development of brand assets, managing creative operations, and fostering understanding and excitement about the brand both internally and externally. The position requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in brand design and leadership, capable of navigating complex organizational dynamics and driving brand equity.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the new core brand identity system in partnership with the Brand Manager and agency team.
  • Identify asset library needs and build a plan and budget to complete the new identity system.
  • Lead the internal team to build out assets such as pictograms and iconography.
  • Assemble a photography library and lead custom photo shoots.
  • Identify illustrator resources and build out an illustration library.
  • Provide recommendations for a lead brand font that meets business needs.
  • Complete brand guidelines for the new system in partnership with the Brand Manager and Agency.
  • Lead technical reviews to ensure the new system is properly vetted and protected.
  • Work with the accessibility team to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Consult with the UX/UI team to translate the new system into UX design.
  • Ensure all new assets are properly contracted for use with legal/procurement teams.
  • Build and execute a training program for marketing employees and external agency teams on the new identity system.
  • Develop training content and rollout plans for the new system.
  • Socialize the new identity system with divisions and articulate its application to their portfolios.
  • Run workshops to train on the new ID system, customizing for different expertise levels.
  • Monitor progress of the new identity rollout and report to senior leadership.
  • Champion the new direction for the Pearson brand to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Develop training that can run annually for internal systems.
  • Inject best practices and new ideas to create a culture of constant learning.
  • Build out extensions of the system to accommodate different business needs, such as app systems and badging.
  • Recommend design and governance processes and tools for consistency across the organization.
  • Develop the Identity section of the brand hub with tools for training and execution.
  • Create a process for design reviews as the new system rolls out.
  • Consult on the application of the new ID system across teams and divisions.
  • Lead daily management of brand identity activation and ad hoc requests.
  • Engage proactively with divisions on key strategic initiatives and branding advice.
  • Oversee a team of designers and copywriters, including hiring and onboarding new team members.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in brand/marketing creative design and leadership.
  • Experience in building, executing, and managing a new brand identity system.
  • Experience in similar roles within a technology organization or brand/marketing agencies.
  • Highly creative with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Proven ability to develop brand design systems and communicate recommendations effectively.
  • Experience managing agency relationships.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and marketing best practices.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Ability to adapt style and approach to diverse stakeholder interactions.
