About the position

The Creative Director of Copy at GNC is a leadership role focused on driving the creative vision and messaging strategy for high-level marketing campaigns. This position requires a forward-thinking creative leader who excels in collaboration, brainstorming, and presenting innovative ideas across various platforms. The role involves managing a team of creative professionals, nurturing emerging talent, and ensuring that all creative outputs align with GNC's brand identity and objectives. The Creative Director will oversee the development of top-line creative concepts for both brand and promotional campaigns, working closely with internal teams and external agencies to deliver impactful marketing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the creative messaging strategy and direction of high-level campaign work within the internal marketing team.
  • Serve as a campaign department and discipline lead, ensuring the continued growth of the team and uniting everyone to push the boundaries of creativity.
  • Identify the strategic and conceptual direction across various projects and present those ideas to cross-functional teams and C-suite.
  • Oversee the development of top-line creative concepts for all GNC campaigns, both brand and promotional/seasonal campaigns.
  • Direct the execution of creative retail campaigns across all mediums including print, CRM, display, web, and social.
  • Recruit, train, develop, retain, and manage the creative copy team.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies or freelance creative resources for concept development as required.
  • Review all final creative pieces to ensure quality, efficiency, and accuracy.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in creative roles within ad agency or retail teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity managing a team.
  • Proven track record of delivering creative marketing solutions that drive strategy to support merchandising, marketing, and branding goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively under pressure and meet timelines.
  • Innovative, solution-based thinker who proactively identifies opportunities for creative improvement.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to respond well to critical feedback.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate employees.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) at the design and production level.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Agility in presentation software such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote, Canva, or Prezi.
