About the position

The Creative Director for the Penn State Alumni Association is tasked with bringing the creative vision of the Association's brand to life through visually compelling, accessible, and dynamic design. This role encompasses the direction and development of all creative assets, which include the Association's digital website presence, membership and philanthropic solicitations, event promotions, advertisements, and merchandise. The Creative Director will be responsible for the development and management of the Penn State Alumni Association's visual identity across various projects and platforms. This includes envisioning, designing, and producing digital, print, and promotional materials from concept to completion, ensuring that all outputs maintain high quality and accessibility for target audiences. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as the Creative Director will work closely with content authors to ensure that all creative solutions align with the overall strategic mission of the Association. Additionally, the position involves managing and ensuring compliance with the Association's brand visual identity, which includes advancing brand visual identity guidelines, style guides, templates, and processes for use by Association staff and Affiliate Groups, including student groups. The Creative Director will also play a significant role in the creative direction of video and photography projects. Supervision of junior designers, which may include interns, is another critical responsibility. This includes prioritizing, assigning, and managing the creative vision from concept to completion. The Creative Director will also maintain working relationships with a variety of vendors that support printing, photography, graphic design, and promotions for the Association. Qualified candidates will be creative professionals who can thrive in cross-functional, fast-paced teams with multiple deadlines, stakeholders, and complexities.

Responsibilities

  • Development and management of the Penn State Alumni Association visual identity across projects and platforms.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least three years of experience in multimedia design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrable experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Ability to succeed on cross-functional, fast-paced teams with multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
