About the position

The Creative Director at Freeman is responsible for leading the conceptual development of experiential solutions for client engagements. This role involves guiding multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring the realization of the overall concept into final design and live production, and enhancing the attendee journey. The Creative Director must be innovative thinkers, strong collaborators, and excellent storytellers, with a focus on delivering business results through live creative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes experiential creative solutions with a strong understanding of audience engagement and a focus on powerful attendee journeys.
  • Leads consultative client discussions with a marketer's mindset, focused on achieving objectives, reinforcing key messages through experience, and influencing key audiences.
  • Leads the creative process through a design thinking approach that proceeds from strategic concept, to design, to delivery.
  • Leads a multidisciplinary team, nurturing strong collaboration, offering clear, productive direction, while staying accountable to key performance indicators of the project.
  • Scripts, assembles, and delivers influential presentations and proposals through strong writing, storytelling, and public speaking skills.
  • Generates innovative and relevant ideas, aligned with research and trends in the live industry.
  • Maintains a currency in technology with an understanding of how it can be used to engage attendees in purposeful, compelling activations and other aspects of live experience.
  • Acts as a financial steward of the client and Freeman, offering achievable, purposeful solutions and honoring constraints of time and budget.
  • Functions as a liaison and connector with various contributing people and departments across Freeman and 3rd party partners.
  • Works within specified deadlines; edits and revises work based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Plans and delegates assignments, managing time and balancing efforts between several significant projects.
  • Recommends creative budgets, and project scope of work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a design field such as interior design, architecture, industrial design, graphic design, and/or experiential design.
  • 10+ years of experience in a creative agency, corporate marketing environment, or architectural design firm in applicable areas of space design such as retail, hospitality, exhibit, and urban design.
  • Strong portfolio showing proven industry success and design skills needed to produce high quality, innovative, user-centered experiences.
  • Experience leading a design team, offering guidance, encouragement, and individual development and project feedback.
