About the position
The Creative/Expressive Arts Therapist at Cherry Hospital is responsible for providing therapeutic creative and expressive arts services to patients. This role involves planning and implementing treatment groups, conducting assessments, and assisting in the development of individualized treatment plans. The therapist will work within a state psychiatric hospital environment, contributing to the mental health treatment of patients through various artistic modalities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement active treatment groups for patients.
- Document patients' responses to treatment.
- Conduct Rehabilitation Services assessments and Creative/Expressive Arts evaluations upon referral.
- Assist treatment teams in developing individualized treatment plans.
- Provide Creative/Expressive Arts activities and assist with special activities as scheduled.
Requirements
- Considerable knowledge of therapeutic creative/expressive arts therapy principles and techniques.
- Ability to conduct creative/expressive arts therapy services to support mental health treatment plans.
- Ability to implement various assessment methods to create individualized goals and interventions.
- Ability to evaluate and document client progress towards goals.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with inpatient psychiatric settings.
- Education and experience in modalities such as Art therapy, Dance/Movement therapy, Drama therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, and/or Music Therapy.
