About the position

The Creative Services Director is a pivotal role within Nexstar Media Group, responsible for developing and leading the overall marketing strategy of the station. This position requires a strategic thinker who can design and implement promotions that align with the station's objectives. The Creative Services Director will provide leadership for the promotions team, ensuring that all promotional activities are executed effectively and contribute to the station's competitiveness in the market. In this role, the director will make critical decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of employees within the promotions team. They will develop and execute promotional strategies that not only enhance the station's visibility but also drive profitability through new and engaging events. The director will manage the recruitment and development of talented promotions team members, fostering an environment of growth and creativity. Budget management is another key responsibility, as the Creative Services Director will prepare budgets, approve expenditures, and ensure that promotional activities are financially viable. They will also handle customer complaints related to promotions, ensuring that any issues are resolved promptly and effectively. The director will plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control promotions programs. They will be responsible for planning, executing, and tracking revenue-generating marketing and promotional events and contests that take place on-air, online, and on-site. Additionally, the director will create and review operational records and reports to assess the efficacy of promotions, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the station's goals. Collaboration is essential in this role, as the Creative Services Director will create client promotions and promotional proposals in conjunction with members of the Programming and Sales teams. This position may also involve performing other duties as assigned, making it a dynamic and multifaceted role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the overall marketing strategy of the station.
  • Design promotions that achieve the objectives of the marketing strategy.
  • Provide leadership for the promotions team.
  • Make decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of employees.
  • Develop and execute promotions strategies to enhance station competitiveness.
  • Manage and lead the department to create new and profitable events.
  • Manage recruitment and development of talented promotions team members.
  • Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding promotions.
  • Plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control promotions programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Minimum five years' experience in media promotions.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience guiding, directing, and motivating subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
