About the position

The Creative Team Director at James River Church is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for the church's creative ministries. This role involves overseeing the Creative Team, managing the execution of marketing initiatives, and ensuring that all creative outputs align with the church's brand identity and mission. The director will work closely with church leadership to maintain a cohesive message and presence both within the church and in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately execute the voice and heart of the Lead Pastors through creative outlets.
  • Build, execute, and steward the Creative Team annual budget under the direction of the Director of Communication.
  • Ensure all areas/personnel in the Creative Team department reflect James River Church culture.
  • Maintain and execute the brand identity of James River Church.
  • Oversee the execution of the content calendar, including weekly Church News and promotional materials.
  • Prioritize and execute departmental requests effectively.
  • Manage the writing, filming, design, editing, proofing, and brand compliance of all content.
  • Execute timelines and communication for the creative process, including proofing and finalization of content.
  • Foster quality relationships and communication between the Creative Team and other departments.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and development of the Creative Team Dream Team.
  • Provide pastoral care and create a positive environment for spiritual growth among team members.
  • Coordinate a cohesive JRC message and presence in the church and community with church leadership.
  • Serve as a sounding board for the Executive Ministries Pastor to aid in thoughtful leadership decisions.
  • Perform general pastoral duties customary for the church leadership team.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in a professional, fast-paced environment with a focus on creative communications and marketing.
  • Advanced skills in communications, branding, organizational leadership, and live-event production.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in both oral and written forms.
  • Experience in overseeing a detail-oriented team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of live production elements and ability to support production staff and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of the JRC church structure and operations.
  • Philosophical agreement with JRC core values and communication standards.
  • Executive management skills and professional experience.
  • Proven interpersonal skills to interact with strong personalities and leaders.
  • Exhibits outstanding judgment, honesty, integrity, and punctuality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Highly proficient in editing and creative software such as Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • Experience in creating story-based videos and event promotions.
  • Ability to create high-quality commercials and promotions for church events.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures, including English usage and grammar.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
