In this role, you will lead and manage a team of designers, providing direction, feedback, and guidance on projects with a hands-on approach when needed. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality design work to clients while staying current on design trends and techniques. Your responsibilities will include managing the hiring and onboarding process for new design team members, communicating effectively when projects are handed off, and working closely with senior designers to provide feedback and guidance. You will also be responsible for presenting and collaborating with producers, campaign managers, and others, establishing brand standards, and pushing creative boundaries. Your role will involve developing and mentoring design pieces, creating visual designs for various brand content, and managing all phases of the Design Studio department's projects from start to finish. You will establish targets and measures that reflect digital communication objectives, communicate objectives to staff, and provide leadership in defining project scope and schedules. Additionally, you will create and implement systems to increase departmental efficiency, partner with internal clients on graphical projects, and coordinate with external contractors as needed. Your commitment to professional development and maintaining high standards will be crucial in ensuring deadlines are met and capacity is communicated clearly. You will also utilize produced video content in design work and help develop the team to think in mixed media terms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of designers, providing direction, feedback, and guidance on projects.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality design work to clients.
  • Stay current on design trends and techniques, continually seeking new ways to improve processes and output.
  • Manage the hiring and onboarding process for new design team members.
  • Communicate effectively when projects are handed off to team members.
  • Work closely with senior designers, providing feedback and guidance on projects.
  • Present and collaborate with producers, campaign managers, and others to set trends in the work.
  • Identify and establish brand standards in collaboration with the Creative Director.
  • Provide insight into modern trends in motion and static design across various media.
  • Develop and mentor design pieces to transition from static imagery to mixed media content.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage designers, evaluating performance and providing coaching.
  • Create visual designs and concepts for brand content such as social media, websites, and marketing materials.
  • Plan, oversee, and manage all phases of the Design Studio department's projects with minimal supervision.
  • Establish targets and measures reflecting digital communication objectives.
  • Communicate project objectives to staff, balancing team and individual responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership in defining project scope and schedules, prioritizing deadlines, and managing resources.
  • Provide project status reports and coordinate project schedules of the design team.
  • Create and implement systems to increase departmental efficiency and ensure product quality.
  • Partner with internal clients on graphical projects, ensuring strong customer service and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with external contractors to provide requested graphic assets and direction.
  • Maintain professional competency and skills necessary for effective job performance.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and capacity is communicated clearly through project managers.
  • Use produced video content in design work and provide edits for shorter content as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or a combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in Graphic Arts and Web design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a design leadership role or equivalent.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in HTML and CSS, with knowledge of web design constraints.
  • Exhibits versatility and flexibility in design.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, simultaneous problems systematically and logically.
  • Expertise in photography, illustration, and related fields preferred.
  • Experience with web and social media design standards and best practices.
  • Experience working with clients to determine project scope and vision.

  • Experience in video editing and production.
