About the position

The Credentialed Veterinary Technician at Waterville Animal Group is responsible for providing exceptional medical care to pets while nurturing client relationships. This role is integral to the clinic's mission of transforming veterinary care through a supportive, community-focused approach. The technician will work in a dynamic environment, contributing to high-quality veterinary services and participating in the growth of a new practice set to open in early 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care to patients and clients.
  • Conduct physical assessments and record observations in cloud-based software.
  • Maintain exam rooms and treatment areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Administer SQ, IM, and IV injections as needed.
  • Assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
  • Monitor patients during surgery and recovery, administering anesthesia and fluids as required.
  • Perform clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams and urinalysis.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients.
  • Effectively restrain pets for examinations and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in veterinary technology.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification through the State of Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board required or able to be obtained prior to starting.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant preferred.
  • Excellent client communication skills and ability to work well with all levels of hospital team members.
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during medical crises.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with practice management software.
  • Knowledge of common vaccinations and vaccination protocols.
  • Familiarity with emergency procedures and clinical laboratory procedures.
