About the position

The Credentialing Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely collection and verification of practitioner expirables such as state licensure, DEA, and malpractice insurance. This position is integral to the credentialing team at Trinity Health, responsible for maintaining an accurate physician database and participating in the development and implementation of credentialing processes. The role requires adherence to policies and procedures while fostering cooperative relationships with practitioners and health ministries.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely collection and verification of practitioner expirables.
  • Define and manage the expirables process in the MSOW database.
  • Perform various credentialing tasks as directed by management.
  • Maintain an accurate physician database and collect necessary data.
  • Communicate with practitioners regarding expiring documents.
  • Contact primary sources to gather required documentation of current licensure.
  • Conduct data entry to ensure accuracy in the physician database.
  • Create reports and track licensure and expirables in MSOW.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Participate in professional development programs related to healthcare regulations.
  • Identify problems and participate in their resolution.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus two years of post-high school education, training, or experience.
  • One year of work experience in a healthcare environment.
  • General knowledge of the healthcare industry, including hospital settings and managed care organizations.
  • Knowledge of NCQA and TJC standards, NPDB guidelines, and licensing regulations.
  • Experience with database organization and management, and proficiency in Windows-based word processing software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide quality service and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
