About the position

The Credentialing Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by managing the credentialing process for various medical professionals, including physicians, advanced practitioners, and therapists. This position ensures that all necessary documentation and certifications are accurately maintained and processed, facilitating the appointment and re-appointment of medical staff at the Springfield Clinic. The specialist collaborates with multiple departments to ensure compliance with hospital and managed care requirements, providing essential support for new hires and ongoing credentialing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, establish, and maintain files for employed and contracted medical staff.
  • Provide credentialing for medical staff appointment, including verification of documents and references.
  • Assist new physicians in applying for hospital privileges and updating licenses.
  • Support re-appointment paperwork for physicians at area hospitals.
  • Complete and track managed care credentialing applications in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accuracy in physician directories with managed care plans.
  • Work with the Transition Team to manage paperwork for physician departures.
  • Assist in obtaining correct licenses for physician relocations.
  • Provide support to the Patient Accounting department regarding contract questions.
  • Ensure accuracy and accessibility of credentialing software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare related studies preferred.
  • Two years of healthcare experience required.
  • Healthcare credentialing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills essential.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office necessary.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and function well under stress.
