About the position

The Credentialing Specialist at Kootenai Health plays a crucial role in ensuring that all initial applications and reappointments are processed in a timely and complete manner. This position involves collecting and verifying sensitive provider data through confidential sources, maintaining a credentialing database, and preparing files for presentation to various committees including the department chairman, credentials committee, executive committee, and hospital board. The specialist will perform thorough analysis and follow-up on each initial application and reappointment, working collaboratively with a variety of individuals such as physicians, facility staff, professional staff, and physician office staff to acquire necessary materials and information. In addition to data collection and verification, the Credentialing Specialist is responsible for performing relevant data entry into the database to ensure the consistency and integrity of the data. This role operates under general supervision and requires the ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals effectively. Regular and predictable attendance is essential, and the specialist must be competent to meet the age-specific needs of the unit assigned. The position is full-time, working day shifts with a total of 80 hours per pay period.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and verifies sensitive provider data through confidential sources and maintains a credentialing database
  • Prepares files for presentation to the department chairman, credentials committee, executive committee, and hospital board
  • Performs analysis and appropriate follow-up of each initial application and reappointment
  • Works with many individuals to acquire necessary materials and information, including physicians, facility staff, professional staff, and physician office staff
  • Performs relevant data entry into the database to ensure consistency and integrity of the data
  • Works under general supervision
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance as an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements

  • Associate's degree OR equivalent education and work experience is required
  • Equivalent experience includes two years of hospital credentialing
  • 3 years of credentialing experience is preferred with a working knowledge of DNV requirements
  • CPCS certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a multi-functional task environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to establish daily work priorities
