About the position

The Credit Analyst 2 position at Sunward involves analyzing and monitoring the creditworthiness of assigned accounts, recommending credit within established guidelines, and performing financial analysis for complex business accounts. The role requires constant communication and efficient workflow within the Credit Analysis area, ensuring adherence to security and confidentiality protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Spread and analyze complex business and personal financial statements, projections, cash flow statements, and tax returns for credit determination on all new requests, renewals, and modifications.
  • Analyze contingent liabilities associated with individuals to assess their impact on the principal's global cash flow and payment capabilities.
  • Review personal credit bureaus, market reports, trade, and bank references to evaluate collectability, payment history, and repayment capacity of commercial borrowers.
  • Prepare written credit-approval memorandums based on financial strength assessments of businesses and individuals making credit requests.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of member and Credit Union information, adhering to identification and shared procedures.
  • Perform commercial/real estate loan site visits as needed.
  • Assist in reviewing residential or commercial real estate lender property evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Senior Credit Analysts to balance and direct the daily workload of the Credit Analysis team.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding team member responsibilities and provide ongoing feedback about credit analysis issues and employee performance.
  • Provide training and ensure adherence to internal controls, procedures, and security guidelines to minimize risk.
  • Assess credit risk and viability of existing business member accounts through periodic audits and annual credit file reviews.
  • Work with commercial lenders and other credit analysts to resolve complex business loan structuring issues.
  • Continuously monitor business member financial information for compliance with loan policies and covenants.
  • Review and recommend grade changes based on financial results to evaluate risk in the business loan portfolio.
  • Collaborate with commercial lending staff to achieve organizational and departmental goals, enhancing member relationships.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and validating collateral documentation, ensuring compliance with policies and laws.
  • Support the credit delivery system, including covenant compliance monitoring and risk grades.
  • Provide a superior member experience by actively listening to and assessing member needs, recommending solutions, and referring members appropriately.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, or more than 2 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in financial/credit analysis, commercial lending, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional ability to understand and interpret financial statements and business tax returns.
  • Knowledge of business lending practices, loan documentation, and servicing requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with information technology, particularly digital means of communication.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, including ratio and trend analysis and projections.
