About the position

The Credit Analyst - Capital Market Risk position at Northern Trust involves supporting the Capital Markets Risk team in managing risks associated with the bank's capital market activities. The role requires providing financial risk expertise to trading teams, ensuring compliance with risk and regulatory requirements, and contributing to the bank's risk framework. This position offers high visibility with senior management and the opportunity to influence risk management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans with risk owners to address priority risks.
  • Support the Counterparty Credit Stress Testing framework, including process execution, analysis, and presentation to Committees.
  • Conduct risk analysis for Securities Finance counterparty portfolios as per Credit Risk Management Policies.
  • Execute VaR model, analyze results, and present findings to Committees.
  • Synthesize risk data into meaningful reports tailored to various audiences and present to partners and senior management.
  • Build positive relationships across the team to influence results and deliver value.
  • Support new business products and monitor activities from a financial and credit risk perspective.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial services, including Capital Markets.
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets and financial products such as Foreign Exchange, Securities Lending, Treasury, and Investment Securities is preferred.
  • Strong PC and Credit Systems/Tools knowledge.
  • Ability to summarize complex issues in simple terms and prioritize effectively under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and/or risk certification are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management or Analysis and Financial Reporting is preferred.
  • Experience with reporting solutions such as Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, etc.
