About the position

The position involves performing credit analysis on commercial credits, which includes receiving data on prospective and active borrowing accounts such as financial statements, agency reports, and interview and investigation sheets. The analyst will contact customers or their accountants regarding questions about financial statements and analyze data to evaluate the short- and long-run prospects of the individual or company. This includes creating comparison spreads and ratios, preparing reports, presenting questions or problems to loan officers, preparing cash flows and debt service coverage, and requesting additional information as needed. The role requires providing a credit risk rating after conducting a cash flow and collateral analysis or a full credit analysis and documentation review, ensuring thorough documentation of all financial analysis work, and tracking application status, approval, and loan policy exceptions. The analyst will also obtain bids and orders for commercial appraisals, review appraisals for accuracy and compliance, and resolve discrepancies with the appraiser. Additionally, the position requires cooperation with other personnel and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Documents all financial analysis work, including ratios and related information.
  • Ensures all credit analysis activities comply with prescribed lending policy.
  • Tracks application status, approval, and loan policy exceptions.
  • Provides necessary credit analysis work for review by various approval authorities.
  • Obtains bids and orders commercial appraisals; reviews appraisals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolves discrepancies or problems concerning appraisal reports with the appraiser.
  • Reports significant problems to loan officers and recommends remedial action.
  • Coordinates work tasks with other personnel within the department and other departments.
  • Supports adherence to internal policies, procedures, and practices for risk management.
  • Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to their area or requests from customers and other personnel.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
  • Participates on Bank Committees as invited or assigned.
  • Performs supportive tasks which may be altered depending on individual circumstances.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or related field is required.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication and business/technical writing skills.
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • High degree of initiative.
  • Well organized and able to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • Adequate knowledge of legal and regulatory aspects of lending, sound credit principles, and industry best practices preferred.
